Bio

John DeVylder has been working as a graphic designer in Chicago since 1996. He has developed his craft working in print and interactive media creating identities, marketing material and websites for Fortune 500 companies across a full spectrum of industries, as well as non-profit organizations and other institutions. John's talents have been employed by Mark Oldach Design, Liska + Associates, and Arc Worldwide (formerly Semaphore Partners and Giant Step). John is currently working as a free agent developing user-friendly brand experiences for the online travel industry.

Prior to moving to Chicago, John attended Rhode Island School of Design, receiving a BFA in Graphic Design and focusing additional coursework on printmaking. While at RISD he assisted with the instruction of eight courses including Color Theory, Typography and Computer Training. Through his own studies John learned to think visually, experiment and approach design problems strategically.

Late in 2003, looking for a reprieve from pushing pixels, John enrolled in a letterpress course at The Center for Book and Paper Arts. Within months he had serendipitously acquired three letterpresses (one quite small, the others quite large) and is currently developing his skills as a printer.

John lives in an Oak Park bungalow with his wife Janna, sons Gustav & Elias, and dog Zeppo.
Life is good.
