Tales from the road: Providence and Boston
We are in the midst of our east coast tour, the tour to end all tours, the tour that ends our traveling for the next little while (unless there is no bedrest in my future, then I'll be on the road until 38 weeks!).
We're on our Boston stop, staying with Alyssa and Deeps. Lucky us, so much fun, lots of laughing. Actually, we're staying with Alyssa and GUY. Um, every man other than Papa is called Guy. Case in point: we get on the plane to Providence Friday night. Gus is in his pajamas (it was 8:45, very necessary and strategic move on our part, I'd say). The pilot invites Gus to come in the cockpit before we take off. IN THE COCKPIT. Yes, it is post-September 11th and they didn't think Gus would cause harm, shocking. I have never seen Gus more awake and instantly engaged. I sat him in the co-pilot's seat (perhaps presumptuous of me, but whatever). I started taking pictures (sorry, can't download until I get home), and then the pilot took a picture of him. Oh. My. God. I asked Gus, "Who is this?" as I pointed to the pilot.
GUY!
The pilot says, "Well, I am the guy!"
So, fast forward to the here and now, in the company of Deeps. Now that Deeps knows that Gus indiscriminately uses the word Guy, he's not feeling so very special anymore. I beg to differ... I think GUY is not just for any guy. It's for the GUY of the moment, and Deeps, you're it.
We had the great opportunity to meet Cara, Earl and Charlotte today at the Children's museum (crazy place, but the little one's loved it). To remind you dear reader's of the Janna-Cara connection, we met while both on bedrest through a pregnancy discussion board. True email friends who got to meet and find out that we weren't crazy people (at least I tried to hide that part of me, tee hee). So much fun, we get to have some more play time tomorrow, such a treat.
I hear Gus downstairs asking, Where are you, Mama?
I know a cue when I hear it.

hey janna, jon and gus-
so nice to meet you three and have you in providence for a bit. sorry that it presented it's october self-rainy and chilly.
our construction/ knitting blog- it's actually much more my blog than jamie's, but that's mostly because i am the chatter- is www.honanblock.typepad.com.
i hope that the rest of your travels are safe and fun. keep us posted on the grad school evolution. you know our vote.
and if we do indeed decide to visit the 'paris' of the united states, we will let you know.
