Buddy

Two nights ago, as we're in bed, I was looking at a baby name book. At the time, we still didn't know if we were having a boy or a girl. Zeppo jumped up on the bed and nestled herself between us (all 72 pounds of her). I said, Zeppo, you pick a name for us (that's how successful I felt we were being to that point).

I opened up the book randomly, and held it in front of Zeppo.
I put my finger where her nose went first.

BUDDY. She picked BUDDY.

John started laughing and said, "Zeppo, you're such a dog."

Hey, what exactly is wrong with the name "Buddy?" It sets a tone for committment. Come here Buddy. I will protect you, Buddy. You know, it just sounds like the perfect name for Zeppo's little guy. Afterall, he could have chosen, King, Prince, Sarge, Rex or so many other popular, yet not appropriate names. Thank goodness, he left open the options for the Royal Family, and most of the Hallmark greeting cards. Whatever you decide, it will be the right name. I have to go back to the first and only advice I gave you when you were pregnant with Baby D (Gus). Don't share it with anyone. When you find the name you love, don't open yourself up to any kind of critisism. Just choose the name together, when baby D2 gets here hold him up and see if it fits and go from there. Hey what does Gus want to call him? Oh, I know, "Mynay!" Right? so happy to hear that you are healthy and we are having a boy. Welcome to low maitenance motherhood, revisited. Love and congratulations to you all!

What is wrong with the name Buddy? I think it sets a tone for a good relationship. Don't you? You know what I mean. Come on Buddy. Be careful, Buddy. I will protect you little Buddy. How sweet. Afterall, Zeppo could have chosen King, Prince, Sarge or even Rex. At least this way, there are options open for the Royal Family and Hallmark. What does Gus want to name the baby? Oh, I know, "Mynay," right? See? Buddy is not so bad after all. I resubmit the original advice I gave during your first pregnancy. Choose the name you love and don't share it with anyone. Do not open yourselves up for any type of constructive critisism. Have the baby, hold him up and see if it fits. Gus is the perfect name for Gus and whatever you select this time will also be perfect. Congratulations and welcome again to the wonderful world of low maintenance male children. I couldn't be happier for you. love, Deb
