He climbed a step yesterday. Lock everything up.

He did it. He's been working at standing up at the stairs, and he once he did that, he realized he could put his knee up. It was like Eli had done it before. He didn't get too far, but let me tell you, this eight-and-a-half month old (yes, he's eight months!) is ready to go. Everywhere.

At Eli's last appointment, he gained about 5 oz and grew 1/2 an inch, to reach 21 1/2 lbs (a bit below the 90th percentile) and 29 1/2 in (95th percentile). He had an ear infection over a week ago, and we stayed home together for a few days while Eli recuperated from his fever. That was heartbreaking.

While you still have to work hard to get Elias to laugh, he's offering up his heart-melting smile to any lady in a 5-foot range. He's got himself some baby mojo. Seriously.

The child is eating three meals a day, still nursing up a storm, and sleeping for more extended periods of time (on good nights). He's sleeping now. And I'm awake. And it's midnight. I am totally insane.

Is it just me or does your youngest son look a good deal like his Grandfather Bruce? Maybe it is just the black and white pictures and the fact that I have seen mostly black and whites of his Grandpa Bruce, but... looking at the pictures of John holding him in the bathroom revealed a distinct similarity. Regardless, he is one handsome young man; as is his very responsible "voting" older brother. How cute!
