Ma-maaaaa!!!
The scene:
Gus is in bed. It's 9:15pm. John is downstairs; I'm washing dishes (because I should, because I'm an adult, because piles are bad bad bad...and I'm way too good at piles).
I'm clanging a pot in the sink. I am ALMOST done. Pile defeat is almost mine.
But wait... I hear something faint, under the swoosh of the water, under the clang of the pot. It's Gus... what is he saying?
I turn off the water to listen.
Gus: "Mama! You're making too much noise! It's waking me up and making me so angry."
Me: "Oh, I'm sorry, Gus, I'll try to be more quiet. Thank you for telling me how you feel."
Gus: "People don't make loud noises."
Me: "You're right, I should be more quiet."
Gus: "Papa doesn't... I don't... YOU do."
Me: (trying not to burst with laughter) "You're right, I do."
