We really are
They're gone.
But did I mention that we've kept the snail alive? We have a snail, the ph of the water is perfect now, no ammonia...John has become an expert in aquarium care.
We'll introduce some new fish in a few days. Once we're not so scared to.
Sorry, fishies. We had intended to have you for 15 years, honest.

As the proud owners and parents of a 6 year old "one-eyed Shirley" a beautiful red tail shark that your mother gave Alex and Kersten for birthday numbers 7 & 5, let me just say that fish can be tricky. Once you get that aquarium balanced it will be fine. Shirley (we named it after your mom of course) lost an eye to an agressive silver dollar fish or something. Other than the eye deal she was our longest living fish. Your mom bought a few fish but One-Eyed Shirley is the one that stick in my memory the most. As I recall, she didn't particularly care for us calling the fish by that name. The kids did it, not the parents. I believe it was Alex who nick-named her. She was a beauty though. All silvery and fast with a vivid red tail and fins outlined in black. We loved our fish. It sound like you did everything right(especially the part I mentioned in an earlier comment about buying some common looking easily replaced fishies) Recommendation on the snail. Get it the #@$% out of the tank before there two million of them and you have to destroy everything in your tank and start over. They are prolific and they can destroy the habitat for others in a small tank. sorry about that. Otherwise, good luck Jacque and Jacquie Devylder. Hugs and kisses to little Custeau for me.
