« Peace | Main | A hard day for Gus »
January 25, 2004
Seven weeks old
He's growing!
Gus is smiling more often and can lift his head pretty well. He maintains eye contact for longer periods of time and just seems to take it all in. It's the rare night that we don't get at least one four-hour stretch of sleep. We're generally still amazed that Gus is actually here and that we are parents. I love it. We're still working on the sleep thing. Last night was gold. John gave him a bottle (Gus is definitely more tolerant of the bottle now) which seemed to get him really sleepy. He was out by 10:45, woke up at 3 and ate for 10 minutes then was out until 5. Not bad!
Here it is, the first open-eyed smile caught on camera!

Is he the most handsome baby you have ever seen or what?! He really is the cutest baby I have seen for a long, long time. I know you are worried about day care because you are a wonderful Mom and you have waited a long time to start a family, however, he will be fine. (Just as you said) I remember having the same thoughts about Alex. I also remember it made my day just fly by and coming home every night was just like Christmas. Glad to hear that he likes sleeping and is getting into a routine. I think they train us, actually. Just wanted to let you know that is the "gosh-darned" sweetest smile I have seen in a long, long, time. Wish I was closer and could hold him. Aunt Deb

WOW, Gustav, your smile is a knockout! I think it's much more than just a smile; you must be laughing! What a beautiful laugh! Your laugh-smile certainly melts my heart. Thanks for keeping in touch with me. Love you bunches! GRANDMA
